At Four Corners Community Bank (FCCB), our fraud protection services are in place to give you peace of mind. We’re doing everything we can to ensure your account’s integrity. You’ll find specific information about our fraud protection services detailed here. If you have any questions, we’re here to help.
Fraud Center analysts work around the clock to minimize the impact of fraud and reduce loss. Fraudulent use alerts are generated at the onset of suspicious activity. They are based on rules, models, algorithms, your spending habits, and logic to detect possible fraudulent activity within minutes of the transaction. High-risk transactions are identified and reviewed by a fraud analyst for all Visa debit and ATM cards. If fraud is suspected, the Fraud Center will attempt to contact you using the contact information you provide to Four Corners Community Bank to verify the legitimacy of the transactions. So that we may minimize any inconvenience, please make sure we always have your current address, phone numbers, and email.
If fraud is suspected, the Fraud Center will attempt to contact you via email, text message, and phone. If you confirm a transaction is fraudulent, your card will be immediately disabled and unusable to prevent further activity; you will be instructed to contact FCCB during business hours to reissue a new card. If you are not available to confirm the activity, the card will be temporarily blocked until we can reach you to prevent additional fraud from occurring. This service is provided automatically for all FCCB customers at no charge.
Courtesy Transfer establishes an automatic transfer to your overdrawn checking account from another deposit account you hold at the bank. Transfers will be in an amount sufficient to bring your checking account to a zero balance.
We have enhanced our overdraft services, now called Courtesy Pay and Courtesy Pay Plus, to better suit your needs when you have unanticipated expenses or unforeseen problems that leave you with too little cash in your checking account. Having a check returned due to insufficient funds can be a costly, inconvenient, and potentially embarrassing experience. At Four Corners Community Bank (FCCB), we do not encourage overdrafts; as always, we encourage you to manage your finances responsibly. However, we want to save you from the additional merchant fees and possible damage to your credit history that might result if a check is returned. Rather than automatically returning unpaid any insufficient funds items that you may have, we will consider, without obligation on our part, payment of your reasonable overdrafts through our Courtesy Pay program.
Courtesy Pay is the bank’s discretionary overdraft service that authorizes and pays overdrafts for checks, other transactions made using your checking account number, ACH transactions, automatic bill payments, recurring debit card transactions, preauthorized internal debits, digital banking transactions, and telephone banking transfers. Courtesy Pay is not contractual in nature and is not a substitute for responsible money management.
Courtesy Pay is applied to most consumer and commercial account types, with the exception of the following: IOLTA/COLTAF, Rep Payee, Fiduciary, Conservator, Estate, Government Entity, Public Funds, Debtor in Possession, Repurchase Sweep, Health Savings, and accounts where a primary or secondary owner is a minor (under the age of 18).
If you meet all account requirements, you will automatically receive Courtesy Pay when you open your account. You will be given a nominal limit to start, which increases with the age of your account, as described below.
Courtesy Pay Plus is an additional service that complements Courtesy Pay by paying overdrafts made using your ATM or debit card for ATM withdrawals and one-time debit card transactions.
If you have a personal account with Courtesy Pay, you can request Courtesy Pay Plus when the following conditions are met: (1) You receive and understand the Overdraft Services Disclosure and Consent Form; (2) the bank receives your “opt-in” request via in person request, call, or mail; and (3) the bank provides you with a written confirmation of the request. The request for Courtesy Pay Plus may be revoked by you at any time.
Business accounts with Courtesy Pay will automatically receive Courtesy Pay Plus.
Courtesy Pay limits are determined by the age of the account and the limits increase incrementally the longer you have your account with us, as described below.
Age of Account | Courtesy Pay Limit |
Less than 1 month | $100.00 |
1 to 3 months | $300.00 |
3 months to 1 year | $500.00 |
1 to 3 years | $700.00 |
3 to 7 years | $1,000.00 |
Over 7 years | $1,500.00 |
While we are not obligated to pay any item presented for payment if your account does not contain enough money, as long as you maintain your account in good standing, we will strive to pay your overdraft items up to your designated limit as a non-contractual courtesy. Your account is considered in good standing if you deposit enough money to bring the account to a positive end-of-day balance at least once every 35 calendar days, you avoid excess overdrafts suggesting the use of Courtesy Pay as a continuing line of credit, and you have had no legal orders, levies, or liens against your account in the prior 12 months.
We may refuse to pay an overdraft item at any time even though we may have previously paid overdrafts for you. For example, we typically do not pay overdraft items if your account is not in good standing as defined above, if there appears to be fraudulent activity on your account, or, if based upon our review of your account management, we determine that you are using Courtesy Pay excessively or seem to be using Courtesy Pay as a regular line of credit. You will be charged a return item fee as described below for each item returned.
There is no additional cost associated with this service unless you use it. When the service is used, for each item paid using Courtesy Pay, you will be charged an overdraft item fee of $30.00. For example, three paid items in one day will result in $90.00 in overdraft item fees.
If an overdraft item is returned to the payee, you will be charged a return item fee of $30.00 per item being returned. If an item drafted by you (such as a check written) or drafted by someone else with your permission (such as a remotely created check or preauthorized draft you authorize someone else to create), or a transaction authorized (such as a preauthorized electronic fund transfer), is presented for payment in an amount that is more than the amount of money available in your account, and we decide not to pay the item or transaction, you agree that we can charge you a return item fee for returning the payment. When we return a payment due to insufficient available funds, the person who submitted the item or transaction may re-submit the returned item or transaction to us for payment. You understand and agree that we may charge a return item fee each time we return an item or transaction that is presented to us for payment because the amount of money available in the account at the time of presentment or re-presentment is not sufficient. If the person who submitted the item or transaction resubmits the returned item or transaction to us for payment and we pay the item or transaction even though the available balance in the account is insufficient to cover it, you understand and agree that we may charge an overdraft item fee.
If the item is paid, the amount of the overdraft plus the overdraft item fee will be deducted from your account. If the item is returned, the return item fee will be deducted from your account. To help you manage your account, the total fees you have paid for items, both paid and returned, during the current month and for the year-to-date will be reflected on your monthly checking account statement.
If you have a personal account, overdraft item fees and return item fees will not exceed a combined amount of $150 per day. There is not a daily overdraft item or return item fee cap on business accounts.
Additionally, on all accounts, if your account is overdrawn by $10.00 or less, based on the end of day current balance, we will waive the overdraft or return item fee for items that are paid and/or returned.
A notice will be sent to you, notifying you of items that are paid and/or returned, along with their associated fees. You will need to subtract the total fees when balancing your checkbook.
No posting order is neutral to all parties to a transaction and understanding this fact, the bank has chosen to post items as described below. If there are available funds to cover some, but not all, of the withdrawals or other debits to your account on a single business day, we post items for which there is a sufficient available balance as follows: ATM and debit card transactions will be posted based upon the time stamp, ACH items will then be posted smallest to largest, then checks by check number order. The bank reserves the right to post in any order. The order we pay your items in may create multiple overdraft items in a single banking day and you will be charged an overdraft item fee of $30.00 for each overdraft item paid.
The chart below shows the different ways you can access Courtesy Pay and Courtesy Pay Plus and indicates whether or not this service will be reflected in the balance provided.

You should make every attempt to bring your account to a positive end-of-day balance as soon as possible, and must do so within 35 calendar days. If you are not able to do so, you will receive a letter from us informing you that Courtesy Pay has been suspended and additional items will be returned. If Courtesy Pay is suspended, unless we notify you otherwise or you request this service be removed from your account, Courtesy Pay will be made available to cover overdrafts again the first business day after you bring your account to a positive end-of-day balance.
You may decline Courtesy Pay at any time; however, you will be responsible for any overdrawn balances at the time you decline the service. If you request to decline this service and later would like to rescind that request, your account must be in good standing at the time the request to rescind is made.
If you would like to decline this service, you can call us at 855.547.3222, visit any of our 6 convenient locations, or send us your request in writing to Four Corners Community Bank, 500 West Main Street, Farmington, NM 87401.
The best way to avoid overdrafts and fees is to keep track of your account balance by entering all transactions, including checks, ACH transactions, debit card purchases, and ATM withdrawals in your check register, reconciling your checkbook regularly, and managing your finances responsibly. However, if a mistake occurs, FCCB offers other services to cover overdrafts in addition to Courtesy Pay.
Ways to cover overdrafts at FCCB | Example of associated fees |
Good account management | $0.00 |
Courtesy Transfer from another deposit account* | $7.00 overdraft transfer fee (per occurrence) |
Courtesy Pay and Courtesy Pay Plus | Overdraft item fee or return item fee of $30.00 per item per presentment |
*The number of transfers allowed from a savings account each month may be limited and additional fees for exceeding this limit may apply. Please ask us about our current specific products, rates, and fees.
We will notify you promptly of any non-sufficient funds items paid or returned that you may have; however, we have no obligation to notify you before we pay or return any item. The amount of any overdraft including our overdraft item fee of $30.00 and/or return item fee of $30.00 that you owe us is due and payable upon demand. Even if we do not ask you for payment, you must repay us, no later than 35 calendar days after the creation of the overdraft. If there is an overdraft on an account with more than one owner on the signature card, each owner and agent, if applicable, is jointly and severally liable for all overdrafts including all fees charged.
Courtesy Pay should not be viewed as an encouragement to overdraw your account. To avoid fees, we encourage you to keep track of your account balance by entering all items in your check register, reconciling your checkbook regularly, monitoring your account online, and managing your finances responsibly.
If we suspect fraud or possible illegal activity affecting your account, we may revoke Courtesy Pay.
If you do not wish to have Courtesy Pay, do not understand the terms of Courtesy Pay, use your Courtesy Pay frequently, or have trouble bringing your account to a positive balance, please contact us at 855-547-3222.
Perform banking transactions including ACH debits and credits, wire transfers, view account transactions, make transfers, and more with our cash management services. Advanced online banking features enable managers to control account balances and transaction activity with ease and flexibility.
*Remote deposit capture equipment must be purchased or leased from the bank for an additional fee
Remote deposit capture allows you to deposit checks directly to your business checking account right from your location via a multi-feed scanner. The scanner converts checks to images and deposits them through a secure, web-based portal. Available whenever you are. Requires internet access.
Are you looking to grow your business and accept your customers’ credit and debit cards? Through our partner, Bankers Bank of the West, we provide processing, settlement, and support for all card types, giving you one point of contact for all Visa and Mastercard transactions.
